The 1st Shanghai-Hong Kong Commercial Mediation Forum was held on 3 March in Shanghai. The forum focused on commercial mediation between important commercial hubs in Asia: Shanghai and Hong Kong. The forum provided a valuable platform for mediation experts and dispute resolution lawyers to exchange views and information.
One hundred and ninety mediation practitioners, lawyers, users, business entities, and other interested professionals participated in the forum. There were 150 and 40 participants from Shanghai and Hong Kong respectively.
The Law Society was an active supporter of the event by being a luncheon sponsor as well as a supporting organizer. Mr Lester Huang, Chairman of the Law Society’s Mediation Committee, represented the Law Society. He also spoke at the ‘Solicitors - The Gateway to Commercial Mediation in Hong Kong’ session by providing an overview of the work of solicitors as mediators and highlighting the value they can bring to the process.
Ms Becky Tang, the Mediation Co-Coordinator also attended. She assisted at the Law Society’s booth and helped to promote both the work of the Law Society and solicitor mediators to visiting delegates.
